Are we going to ever be able to log into and stream our MC library at home from some random place, like in the airport on my small harddrived netbook without being in the same LAN?

You can access Library Server from anywhere on the Internet now.

how?!?

As long as your router re-directs the incoming connection to the media center machine on the correct port you are laughing. I stream media from home to work with no issues.

Linksys has a good tutorial on routing.

At work I added many other coworkers' My Music folder into my MC Library. Then I can stream their music home if I want to listen to any of the songs. I also stream from home to work.
I use No-Ip Free (http://www.no-ip.com/services/managed_dns/free_dynamic_dns.html) at home to assign a url to my dynamic IP address. For example, I could use jrmc.redirectme.net to point to my home computer. If my ISP every changes my dynamic IP address, the No-Ip software on my computer updates jrmc.redirectme.net to point to the new IP address.
If I have library server running in MC at home, from work I can go to File > Library > Library Manger > Add. I type in jrmc.redirectme.net and I now have access to my home library.
I have used this while on vacation to access my library, too.
When I had MC version 12, I installed Media Jukebox on my Dad's work and home computer and gave him the url of my library. He could then stream my music. I now have MC 13 and Media Jukebox hasn't been updated to work with its library (as far as I know). Maybe I'll buy him MC for Father's Day.
