I recently switched to S/PDIF output to a new receiver. I had expected visualizations to stop working when I did this (I thought they worked by analyzing the waveform). However, visualizations still work in MJ.
What does not work, however, is the Geiss screensaver. It worked before when i had either "stereo mix" or "wave" checked as my recording device in the Windows mixer. Now with digital output, it doesn't work no matter what I select.
So my question is: Why do the MJ visualizations work but not the Geiss screensaver? I'm pretty sure I have a grasp of the answer, but I want to ask anyway, to see if anyone has feedback that will give me clues on how to get the Geiss screensaver working again.
Thanks all.

MJ knows how to display visualizations, because it's sending the data to the soundcard. (so it knows what it is)
However, I bet Geiss is monitoring the onboard analog mixer, which gets bypassed in digital mode...
