Title: One Pass Ripping?
Post by: BeetleX on July 16, 2002, 01:01:30 am
Is there a way to define tag/ naming information prior to ripping?
The usual way seems to be:
throw in a CD, wait for what CDDB wants to make of, rip and after start to correct all information (tags, file names and file location) .
Sometimes CDDB info is not correct, or use of albumartist field is wanted - in every case there is double effort to import the music!

If I try to change file info prior ripping, MJ says 'cannot update *.cda' (I have never tried ripping on a rewriter device - har, har)

I am so happy with MJ, but this double effort is annoying. Especially the absolutely inventive albumartist field is not supported by CDDB - but it determines file location and directory naming.

Maybe there is a way to save thousends and thousends of useless pressed keys?

By the way:
I use albumartist field with categories like _Soundtrack, _Samplers, ... This produces a media list view with these common categories at the beginning:

.|PLS|Media Library
.   |PLS|Artist/Album
.      |PLS|_Soundtrack
.      |PLS|_Samplers
.      |PLS|AnneClarc
.      |PLS|...

JimH, do you have a secret gate? Your reply wasn´t counted (reply count), so I noticed it just accidently.
