Title: File import OGM
Post by: gigglez on June 02, 2009, 01:54:51 pm
I have several .ogm files that will not play. I can't get them to import either.

I read that ogm files are essentially ogg files...

Can you please help me to import and play the .ogm files. I don't have a problem with most other files but these i can't get to import.

I also have a handful of .avi files that won't import. these files play just fine in media player but i can't get them to show up in the media center library.

These are the two separate problems i have with media center.

THANKS

Is anyone else using ogm? It's not supported anymore and its use is discouraged by Xiph. It's always been a hack. It died 2 years ago. Try to use other containers, say mkv.

Ogm is the filename extension for a certain type of ogg container. Here is some info about it:

As Daydream said, it is not one of the currently recommended ogg variants.
Here is info about ogg in general: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogg

I think installing CCCP (http://www.cccp-project.net) would add ogm support.

The media type was incorrectly detected because MC couldn't decode your ogm files before you installed CCCP.

You can fix the problem by setting "Media Type" library field to Video or by importing from a different folder so that MC doesn't have old file info in the library (move the files outside MC).
