A while ago the auto import (good old otto) process was changed to skip files currently being written to/open and since then I've had some problems with the process importing some of my TV recordings (using webscheduler) in a reliable way.
While my TV recordings are being recorded I can understand that the import process will not import them, but I often find that once the recording is finished they still haven't been imported 30 or 60 minutes later although if I run a manual import the files are picked up straight away.
So I was wondering if somebody could tell me the "logic" behind the import process in terms of how often it retries open files and the period between retries? Or how it decides when to try importing a file that was previously open.
Thanks
Richard

I don't think auto import should be used with TV recordings. Like ripping a CD, the files are automatically imported into MC.

I don't think he's using MC to record the TV shows, but he wants MC to import them after the external recorder is done.

I'm not using MC to do the recordings Jim, I'm running an external application (webscheduler) until the MC TV recording/EPG is Theatre View ready.

Shameless *BUMP* :)

I'm still having issues (with latest builds) where video files are not being imported for over an hour after my recording software has finished and closed the file.
It's like MC tried to import it a few times and then gives up for quite a while because the file always seems to be open.
I can understand the issue with bogging down the machine retrying over and over again, but can I please know what the tiimeout/thresholds are for this?
Cheers
Richard
