Title: HDCD.exe decoder
Post by: JONCAT on July 16, 2009, 12:19:49 pm
I'd like to see MC14 incorporate HDCD.exe decoder for HDCDs.

API and versions:

HDCD support would be nice.  I have 24-bit rips of my HDCD encoded discs.  It's nice to be able to recover the dynamics on discs that have peak extension.

But I'm not sure about the legal issues of adding HDCD.exe to a commercial product.  There are likely patent issues with HDCD.  HDCD.exe was reverse engineered and was not developed with the support of those who own HDCD (now owned by Microsoft).  dBpoweramp includes HDCD.exe to decode HDCD and it's a commercial product.  Did dBpoweramp do due diligence to figure out the legal implications?
