Is there a way for me to get back the old style of three (audio, images, video) buttons at the top of the sidebar? I really liked keeping these main items separated and differently styled than the rest of the sidebar.

I like the new tree, but I agree it can become a bit.... "samey"
Personally, I like how the Outlook 2010 tool bar looks...

It'd be nice to be able to arrange root elements on the tree, and be able to customise the images associated (i.e. a custom image for Audio)
Looking at it, I actually like the look of office 2010's taskbar. I also like MMC 3.0's task area (the new bit on the right of a MMC console) - I think, given that screen are often wide now (and now going to 16:9), we can afford the screen-estate for an option like this.
It might be nice to funk up MC's standard view a bit, possibly making it a bit easier for new users too.

I miss the icons. I'd like to see the ability to add high quality icons.

I'm afraid this and other changes were mainly done to decrease the size of the default skin. Is there no hope? I sincerely dislike the new method because there are so many other items below that the list gets too long and cluttered. With the different appearance for the three it isn't so bad. Plus, they don't take as much vertical space overall.
