Title: error on restore library
Post by: rhgh on July 19, 2009, 03:44:15 pm
Hi!

In mc13 I created my own ID3 tag field with the name "_kü_wikipedia" kü is for the German word Künstler which is artist). I did a library backup, so I could import my library into the test version of mc14. When I did that, the ID3 tag was there, but the information in it wasn't.

The old name of the computer file on the harddisk was written like that: (_kü_wikipedia).jmd.
The new name of the computer file on the harddisk was written like that: (_kï_wikipedia).jmd.

Because apparently mc14 can not deal with German umlauts (ä ü).That's why mc14 couldn't connect the file to the tag field.

When I change the hieroglyphs to an ü, it works again and I get my information back. But every time I import a backup there's the hieroglyphs again. So it would be nice if that problem could be taken care of.

Thanks Reinhard

You should be able to use any characters in a field name.

We'll look into this and see if we can reproduce it.

I think the problem is that the backup / restore routines aren't consistently handling Unicode characters.  This will get fixed in a coming build.
