I have mc14 latest build loaded on several machines but one box is not allowing any drag and drop of files anywhere. Left click and it highlights the file but it does not grab it.
I tried reinstalling but no luck. Options are set the same for each machine. Running both xp and vista. Running the server on my main box and searching for servers on the other boxes.

Maybe mouse software is interfering.
-
This feature works with mc13 on that machine. I am going to try uninstalling other mc versions. Maybe some dll not loading right?
-
Try uninstalling and reinstalling.
Try rebooting.
Try powering down completely and restarting.
I don't think this is an MC problem.
-
I uninstalled all versions, powered down and reinstalled - same problem, no drag and drop. MC13 was working fine with drag and drop. This a dell inspiron 8500 notebook with a logitech usb trackman attached. Unplugging the trackman and using the 8500 touchpad made no difference.

Check MC settings under Tools/Options/Remote. The MCE Remote is on by default in new MC14 installs. Uncheck it and anything else.
-
Unchecking helped with drag and drop but only when a local library is active. That is, when I search for my library server then drag and drop breaks - even if I try switching back to the local library. If I exit and come back in with the local library as the default then drag and drop works again.
-
Check the settings on the server, too.
-
Unchecked all keyboards in remote on the server, restarted mc on server box. Still no drag and drop on this one notebook.
I have heard of windows shell right-click options sometimes conflicting with the system. Could this be it? You can take a look at the list for that box here: http://dviews.com/images/contextmenu.jpg

I've never heard of it, but you can disable shell integration in MC Tools/Options/General.
-
I did have that unchecked on the notebook. Unchecked it on the server box, restarted - no change. It must be something peculiar to this machine but how to figure that out.
-
Did you try a google search on the problem?
-
Things like virus mblast (don't have), run dcomcnfg and check rights - I did.

Drag and drop is and never was and issue with my system. It is only this isolated case of using the library server in mc14 that it breaks.
-
I wonder if you're trying to use drag and drop for an unsupported feature. What exactly are you trying to do?
-
Two things. One I drag songs in a playlist and either change their order or drag them into another playlist. Second I drag a song out of mc and into another program (amazing slow downer) which has no trouble normally accepting them. With the server library loaded I highlight a song nothing happens - no international no sign or any other error.

Here is an update. This appears to be a permissions issue with xp. You must have full administrator rights for drag and drop to work when connected to an mc14 server.
I login to my computer with my name which is supposed to have 'administrator' rights. My name login has the same password as the actual Administrator password. If I switch users and login as Administrator, drag & drop works. Switching users back to me again, no. But if I right-click and choose Run As and run mc14 as Administrator, then drag & drop works while connected to an mc14 server logged in the os as me.
I have tried like the devil to reset all permissions in xp but no luck. This solution helped a lot of people almost like the second coming but did not work for me - http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/reset-the-registry-and-the-file-permissions-in-windows-xp/ .
If anyone has another suggestion for resetting permissions, great, if not, at least I hope I shed some light on strange behavior while connected to an mc14 server.
