I suggest you expand the link buttons so they also can run .exe files.
If more than one file is selected when the link is pushed, start the executable sequentially with each file's tags as parameters..

Can you describe what you're aiming at?
Theater View can start an exe now.

I'm thinking of something similar to "Send To External"..
I.e. if you want an item to somehow be processed by "Send To External", you could use the linkbar instead of navigating in the rightclick context menu.

Good idea :)
I actually tried this and failed when the feature was first introduced, and never really thought of it again (Used the scripting plugin instead) :)
Sample link would look like this:
C:\Example\example.exe "[Filename]"
You could equally use other tags, a little like this:
C:\Example\example.exe -1 "[Filename]" -2 "[Name]"

I also think this is a great idea. The "Links" bar could be a common interface for anything external to the program... For example, it would be nice to have a "Photoshop" link for images. I also think an option to add some command line parameters could be great (emulated games?)

Links could go from good to amazing with a few small changes.

Asked for this a cpl yrs back, then implemented it with autohotkey.
The buttons reside on the windows taskbar instead of in MC.

the more ways a program has the ability to run other unrelated files the more ways there will be for hostile behavor.
Please don't open any security doors that can't be closed.
