I've been recording some of my lp's using the line-in recorder with mixed success. One of the issues I have come across is that when trimming the files with the media editor, and then re-saving the file is that the track length doesn't get updated. For example let's say that I recorded a track directly to mp3 (5:29 in length) only to later find out that it was actually comprised of two tracks that didn't split properly. I then opened the file in the media editor and located the split point and deleted the second track leaving me with the 3:29 track that I wanted to keep. I then saved the file back to mp3 again, but the track length is still listed as 5:29. Is there a setting I am missing somewhere that will fix this?
I can get the program to recognize the new length by using the "Update Library" function with the "Update 'new' database fields" option chosen, but unfortunately it appears to have to go through all of the tracks in the Library to do this.

The media editor and your MJ database are not connected. So there is not auto update of the length of an edited file.
but unfortunately it appears to have to go through all of the tracks in the Library to do this.
Yep. It's a hassle.
They've been told.
Don't think they ever responded to this one, which is unusual.
Makes me think it must be harder than it seems to perform "Update Library" function on a selection of files rather than the whole library.
It seems pretty simple from where I'm watching.

Never thought about that, but if a file is trimed and the file name is not changed, but saved back to the file that is in the MJ database it should update all the file info.
-
Future versions may track the "last modified" stamp on the file and automatically detect external changes.
Until then, you'll have to use "Update Library" or else re-import.
Take care.

Thanks for the info. Good to know I'm not just missing something.
Keep up the good work.
