Title: Sidecar files: what happens when they are changed by an external app?

If an external application (for example MyMovies) changes an sidecar file, is that change automatically picked up by MC?

Does autoimport detect a change of date/time and imports a file when the date has changed?

In my testing thus far... no.

Once the file is imported, then changing the sidecar file doesn't seem to update the tags within MC.

In fact if you delete the file in MC and re-import it, the old "cached" tag info will come back and not the new sidecar info.

I've raised this previously and will follow it up as MC14 sidecar support settles down.
