Title: album view question
Post by: elgibby on July 09, 2002, 10:00:36 pm
Album view doesn't seem to remember settings. I tell it not to display unassigned, and to display albums with a minimum of five tracks.
But every time I open it, I have to go through the settings/scans again.
What am I missing?
thx

elgibby,

I presume you are using 1.03 ... if so then I cannot reproduce this ... can anyone else?

FYI when you hit the OK button in the options screen the data is saved to the registry.

Fire up REGEDIT and look in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\James Dickson\MJAlbumView\DataProcessing.   Check out "ExcludeUnassignedAlbums" as it should be set to 1 and "MinimumAlbumTrackCount" which should be set to 5.

Hey Rhino,
How's v2 coming? Any new progressions on it?

Hi Nila,

V2 has been on hold for the past week or so due to personal issues ... i.e. the other half was complaining I was spending too much time on my computer and wasn't seeing me :-/

So to calm things down I've spent some quality time with the family.

Hopefully this weekend I should start slowly getting back to "normal" and get back to V2 :D

Rhino:

"Fire up REGEDIT and look in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\James Dickson\MJAlbumView\DataProcessing. Check out "ExcludeUnassignedAlbums" as it should be set to 1 and "MinimumAlbumTrackCount" which should be set to 5."

Hmmm. Well, I can drill down thru MJAlbumView -- but there is no
data processing folder and no entires for unassigned albums and minimum track count! A click on AlbumView folder brings up
a list of items starting with (default) disable wheelmouse,
OnStartupScan ... thru Sync TimerInterval.

?

Very strange.

What branches do you have under MJAlbumView (on the left hand side of regedit) when you expand it?

Rhino:

It's HKey Current User/ Software / James Dickson / MJAlbumView ... that's it on the left side.

Nila:

It was a real pain having to stop as I was getting into a good flow with the code :(

elgibby:

I have again just tried it here and it creates the registry entries as it should.

Can I suggest you try the following:

1)  Remove AV
2)  Go into regedit and delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\James Dickson\MJAlbumView branch.
3)  Install AV
4)  Fire up MJ
5)  Go to the AV options screen and click OK ... you should then see AV rescanning your MJ database.
6)  Check that the registry entries have been created.

Rhino

Well, I uninsstalled/reinstalled twice.
First time, I left the registry alone. Didn't work.
Second time, I deleted registry key, then uninst/reinst. Also didn't work.

elgibby,

Can you email me a trace file please ... then I can see if there is problems writing to the registry.   Full instructions are in the trace file.

Also can you try changing, say, the thumbnails captions to see if they are being written to the registry.

Sorry, Rhino, I have no idea what a trace file is or where to find it.

My msg should have read "full instruction in the README file".
