I don't understand what you are doing to get the image you have.   Can you give some step by step instructions?

on latest system - just press control-2 from fullscreen display view. After this action I have glitch like on screenshot, and can switch with ctrl-1 and ctrl-2 from to standar view to glitch view and back unlimited times! )
and, for fix it, I switch mini-glitch to standart with mouse doubleclick to standart. After this all ok again.

I have had this happen when switching between Standard & Mini views as well (Build 14.0.50 dual-screen setup).

When I launch MC14 and press Ctrl+2 for Mini View, the screen sometimes expand mini view to fill the whole screen (as experienced above).  When pressing Ctrl+1 and Ctlr+2 again, it will display the mini view correctly, except that it is streched horizontally to the width of the screen.

More often, however, the MC14 mini view window disappears completely after pressing Ctrl+1, only to reappear when clicking on another window or the desktop.  When this happens, the mini view has been resized to it's smallest allowed size and moved to the bottom-left corner of the first screen.

After this, all seems to work fine.  This did not happen with the previous builds.

I also have this trouble on dual-monitor system (Vaio SZ, intel 950/nvidia 8200GM) without any external remote control.
With remote - its just a new method )

Anyone else using Nvidia video?

Dual screens on two different machines, respectively using:

Asus nVidia GeForce 8800GT TOP
Asus nVidia GeForce 8600GT

Both seems to experience this problem.

Please test on a machine without Nvidia if you can.

Anyone else using Nvidia video?

Workstation 6.1  (Build 7600)
Intel Core 2 2126 MHz MMX / Memory: Total - 2095 MB, Free - 523 MB
nVidia GeForce 7650GS - Dual Screen setup.

I tried switching from one view to another, but no view issues for me. I'm using a nVidia driver version 8.15.11.9038.

I tested this on an Acer laptop with Intel graphics chipset, and get exactly the same behaviour.  After initial launch, you press Ctrl+2 and it disappears, until you click on the background, then it re-appears.

Just installed 14.0.61 and the described problem have gotten worse:

- Launch MC14
- Press Ctrl+2

On some occasions this results in the mini view stretched to fill the whole screen (as described above).
Other times (more often on my setup) MC simply "disappears".  In 14.0.50 I could make it visible by clicking on the background or another window.  This no longer works and the only way to make it visible is to click on MC in the taskbar, and then pressing Ctrl-1.

This is a portable install, and happens on every single machine I've tried it on.

Are we the only two people experiencing this?  This is new behaviour and did not happen with MC13.

We haven't been able to reproduce this.

Is it portable installs only?

Any other tips?

Thanks.

I gave it a try with a portable install of MC 14.0.61.

Starting MC portable and pressing Ctrl+2 I too get a stretched mini view. It even doesn't fit on my two displays. Resizing isn't remembered: after restarting MC and pressing Ctrl+2 it's strecht again.

And it only happens with my portable install. It worked fine with some older build a had before (something older than 14.0.34).

Workstation 6.1  (Build 7600)
Intel Core 2 2126 MHz MMX / Memory: Total - 2095 MB, Free - 523 MB
nVidia GeForce 7650GS - Dual Screen setup.
I updated my nVidia driver to the newest version yesterday (ver. 8.16.11.9062). Disabling the second screen does NOT solve the problem for me.

I am glad that someone else could reproduce this bug.

As a final test to confirm that this is only happening to "portable installs", I installed 14.0.61 as a "normal install" and everything worked correctly on one of the same machines that had the problem with a "portable install".

I don't know what else I could provide to assist in solving this problem.  ?

A portable install is meant for a removeable drive, like a USB stick or similar.

It is not meant for installs to laptops or other portable computers.

I have MC protable installed on one of mine external drives. So if I'm not at home but have my external drive with me I have the full and comfortable access to all media files. Up to now I never used it, because I only use my drive at my desktop PC or/and my Laptop which both have a local MC installation.

But I don't get your point:

Is my szenarion not exactly what Portable Install was provided for?

Same here.  My portable install is on an external HDD.  The standard install was to an internal HDD on a PC.

I installed both types to determine where the problem lies, and it only appears to happen with the portable install.

I'm on portable install and I can't reproduce this.

Does it matter which skin?  Does it happen with Noire?

I think the point Jim is making is that the word portable refers to the fact that the install is not tied to one machine, so can be installed on a portable drive, such as a memory stick, removable hard drive, or portable media player.
It does not refer to the method for installing on to a portable machine such as a laptop, for which a standard installation would normally suffice, and be more appropriate.

I only tried with noire.
What type of grafik are you using? Right now it looks like a nVidia (and dual monitor) related thing.

I am using Noire as well, but could replicate the behaviour with other skins.

The issue is definitely not related to dual-screens or nVidia, if you read earlier posts.  I had the same experience on nVidia & Intel graphics chipsets, on single and dual-display systems.  The only common factor I could find was the portable install.

In a coming build:
Fixed: In a portable install, settings that ended with escape characters (backslash, equals, etc.) could become corrupted. (may require delete and reinstall to fully fix)

The window placement often ended with an equal sign since it was base-64 encoded for storage as a string.

I have this bug again, sorry  ?

What I did:

I started MC client (not portable) on vaio sz650 laptop with dual video card - intel and nvidia, Win7 x64. Intel graphic mode, laptop display as secondary, acer 2623W as primary. Start MC on main screen, connect to base, turn music and left-click on "Mini View" button on Noire standard skin. After this I got miniskin glitch on my main monitor..

I send log to Matt mail

This is now fixed on my side.  Did you follow Matt's instructions ("may require delete and reinstall to fully fix")?

I tried to install (without deleting) and the problem still occurred, but after deleting it was fixed.
