Hi
I have portable installation of MC (v14). Upgrading an fully installed version is easy. Simply run the setup file. Can I do the same with a portable version? I don't want to delete the folder each time because all my settings will be lost. (backing these up each time would be a real hassle).
Thanks

Just install over the top of the old install and everything should be fine. Making sure to select the portable install option each time.

I just installed over the top of my portable install with another portable install only to be told that this was not possible because there was no full installation. I was then told that Windows could not access the C: drive (which is not the install location). When I started MC14 from my portable drive it was not a registered copy and when I attempt to restore the licence I am advised: "Error restoring Media Center licence: invalid licence, error code=22." The licence code is freshly generated.

You must have a full installation installed and registered in order to install/upgrade your portable installation.

Do you mean that it is only possible to upgrade from a fully licenced portable installation to a full installation and then reinstall the portable version? I understood from the second post in this thread that it was possible to install a portable version over a portable version.
I started with a fully licensed portable version.

Hi,
You need to have a normal installation fully authorised on your pc for upgrade a portable instal.

Thank you. Sadly something is now very wrong. Even after three complete deinstallations and full reinstallations to C:, I now find that MC14 crashes with a C++ runtime error whenever I plug my iPod in to the USB port.

Please make sure you have the latest build from the top of this board.
There was a similar sounding issue that was fixed a while back.
Thanks.
