Title: Sort by number of songs
Post by: pes2009ap on August 30, 2009, 08:26:20 am
Hi everyone :),

I'm new to MC and have this very noobie question:

How do I create a View that displays Artists sorted by number of songs? (i.e. the one with the most songs in the library is placed first)?

Under Sorting I only see options such as Date (newest first), Date (oldest first), Date Imported, Plays, Name, Random, Rating... I can't seem to find anything that counts the number of songs.

Thanks :)

Try this:

Right-click 'Audio', pick 'Add Library View...'

Choose 'Artists (small with files)'

Customize View on the new view, pick 'Sort By' > 'Number of Files'

Thanks. :)

However, whenever I switched to a Panes view, the option "Number of Files" under Sort By disappears  ? This "Number of Files" is only available without using Panes.

Intuitively, I want to have another filtering layer right before ranking Artists by number of songs (and that's why I prefer having a Panes view to do this).

For example, I want to list down all the genres first (e.g. Classical, Jazz, Rock...). Then select one of the genres, for example Jazz. Then I want to see among all the Jazz artists, which one has the highest number of files for instance.

Anybody know how to do this? Should I not use Panes and use something else?

Thanks in advance :)
