A while ago this topic was already asked for. Those days JRiver said good, but later...
So, again - what about integrating the option to lock views so that you can't accidentally lose them. Especially, it would be great to see "playing now" as a constantly visible view.
Did you plan such a feature for MC14?

For the Playing Now issue, you could right-click Playing Now in the tree and pick 'Edit Playing Now in Action Window'. This might be a little easier than a split view.

I've been asking for this my self for as long as I knew this was available. Split views is increasingly important as people us higher and higher resolutions and wider screens. Split views is simply not usable (at least for me), as you so easily can change the views' content.
You should be able to lock at least one view, and if you try to navigate to something else in that window, the other view should be updated. Or else there might be confusion as to why the links don't work. This would make things like the links a lot more usable too.

It's not only the Playing now view to be fixed. This would also be helpful for any other view you've customized according to your own needs.
Playing now as a fixed split view is just the obvious feature that would facilitate navigation and handling of MC. I often noticed that people who are not familiar with MC get lost when they click through different view schemes (like I created them for albums, albums by years, situations etc.). Depending on where the focus lies the view disappears.
Maybe I have the wrong impression, but would such a feature not be an easy task to add?

So have we come up with a solution with this?
-
Not a word yet I'm afraid.

Im with the guy at the top, this is the only reason I am not telling my not too tech savy girlfriend to get this software. If we can lock it, she'll buy it.

Been waiting for locked views forever. :'(
