Title: How do I reverse the effects of "Disable Windows Media Center"?
Post by: cncb on September 06, 2009, 03:54:17 pm
I checked this to try it out but now Windows (7) Media Center is no longer accessible from the remote or even the Start Menu.  When I go into the MC options this is always unchecked so there seems to be no way to "toggle" it back.

Under Remote setup in MC, try unchecking the devices.

Same here! Win7, too.

I get the message
Quote
This program is blocked by group policy. [...]
I took a look at group policy setting but nothing is blocked there. So MCE still not running for me...

If Media Server is running, stop it.

I stopped all JRiver Services and Programs running. I assured that everything is stopped via Taskmanager. But MCE still comes up with the same message. Pressing green button at my remote: nothing happens.

After setting the option to disable MCE and then restarting MC, the option is shown as unset again but MCE still doesn't start :(

edit:
Reinstalling MCE did the trick for me, too.

It seems like there should be a warning about checking this option if the only way to reverse it is to "reinstall" WMC.

It's just a bug that the checkbox stays cleared.

It'll be fixed in a coming build.

You can also set this manually in Control Panel 'Program Defaults' or similar.

Thanks.
