Title: (Disc #), [EP], [Remaster] etc. when searching for coverart
Post by: llafriel on September 18, 2009, 09:46:51 am
I store disc number, editions and other info as part of the album name. This works fine except when searching for coverart. Would it be possible to omit stuff inside parentheses and brackets when searching. Or perhaps being able to edit the search inside the lookup window?

What happens when an album title intentionally contains parentheses :)

The only surefire way is to have the album tag match the real title exactly and add any other qualifiers via a calculated field.

MC should allow the user to attempt various permutations of album lookup.  This would allow users to solve this class of lookup failures.

I've considered the calculated field approach, but that will be a lot of work.. I think we should be allowed to edit a search if we think leaving stuff out yields a better result.
I guess searches should use fuzzy logic to get more hits since user uploads might have slightly different names for the same album. Maybe MC does this already, I don't know.
