Title: Importing a wav file library
Post by: murrayp on September 22, 2009, 04:28:40 am
Hi,

I have a wav file library of about 500 albums to import.  It is arranged as Artist\album\track - title.  Windows media player picks it up ok, but Media center doesn't detect the artist or album, consequently I get one huge album with 5000 odd songs in it.

I've since added cue files to the library.  With those it imports and looks fine, except that when I go to play any track, it always plays the first track only.

I'd sort of hoped that Media Centre would have the option to detect artist and album from the path info, but seemingly not.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

tks

welcome to the forum  :)

right-click on a track choose library tools>fill properties from filename.
for directories choose: [artist]\[album]
for filename use [Track #] - [Name]

when that works for a few, you can do that to a lot.

OK, I'm impressed!  Wow, that was fast!  And not only that, it works!  Brilliant, I'm hugely impressed and thankful!

Excellent!  Now back to my music.

Tks for the welcome btw.

One further question please - when the tags are updated, does this happen in the Media Center database or back into the original files.  The reason I ask is that I have the same problem with Foobar, and haven't found a solution there yet.  Hope I'm allowed to use that name around here ;-)

tks

tags are only saved in filesformats that support tags. as far as i know wav does not support tags. so the tags are only updated in the database in that case.
