Title: Must reboot to watch/record TV
Post by: badger on September 27, 2009, 10:51:44 am
I'm trying to switch over to MC (from Windows 7 Media Center) for TV recording, but I keep losing the TV function.  Every day at some point (usually my 1st attempt) I get an error saying "MC had trouble playing the last files....check library path" (or something to that effect).  I reboot and everything works fine for a while.  Just restarting MC doesn't solve the problem.  Any ideas on troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

MC14 latest (.71)
Windows 7 RC
Hauppauge Analog WinTV PVR250 (PCI)

Thanks

One possible cause is something holding onto the TV tuner device.  Do you have other TV application running?  Microsoft Media Center?

I've gone several days without launching Windows Media Center TV... and MC still loses TV function.  I believe Windows Media Center does autimatically download the guide listings though.  Maybe this is when it takes over the tuner?  I'll see if I can find a way to disable Windows 7 TV.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Are you running any Hauppauge software?

Did you try Hauppauge support?

I only have the Hauppauge drivers installed (not the WinTV software).  I don't think Hauppauge will help me with MC?  I'm trying to disable or uninstall Windows 7 TV function and see if MC TV will work without rebooting.

It could be just a driver problem with the Hauppauge card.  That's why I suggested asking them.
