Title: he-aac (aac+) streams won't play
Post by: wisedan on October 18, 2009, 01:27:46 am
Newbie question. Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere--I can't find it.

Every time I try to play an AACplus stream from Shoutcast or Sky-fm, MC returns an error message, "Media Center encountered errors while trying to play the last sevarl files... Error details Direct Show: The media type of this file is not recognized. code=0x80040240.

I have the CCCP codec pack installed and have checked what I know how in the options/playback/video screen.  I am at a loss.

What do do?

Windows 7 64bit. MC 14.0.84

Install Orban AAC plugin (http://www.orban.com/plugin/)

Thanks. Did that. Same problem.  The first time I tried to play the AACPlus stream, it asked me to install Quicktime. I did that. Then it came back with the error.  Then I installed the Orbin plugin.  It installs in Windows, but I don't see it in MC.  How do I get it to register in MC?

Tools > Options > File Types > Audio > AAC.  Set Playback Method to "JRiver audio engine (using DirectShow)".

Beautiful!  Changing the file association/playback method did the trick.  Are there other changes from default that should be made?  Thanks!  :)

Tools > Options > File Types > Audio > AAC.  Set Playback Method to "JRiver audio engine (using DirectShow)".

Thanks...this worked!
