Hi,
I just upgraded to MC14, and I really like the Play From Memory option.
When the file is transferred from disc to memory is it uncompressed at that time, or is decoding performed from memory on playback? The current audio nervosa preference would be the former.
Regards,
Lynn

I have been quietly enjoying music from MC, and the upgrades over the years have been great!
I will admit to trying Foobar and others from time to time, but nothing comes close to the elegance and features in MC.

Decoding is performed from memory on playback.
This provides low steady CPU usage which is more desirable than lumpy usage (which changes system multipliers, etc.) Remember that a CPU will always be working, since it has to deliver audio to the soundcard, etc.

Hi Matt,
That makes sense, and I am not sure why there is a preference for decoding earlier.
Best regards,
