Title: theoclarke: Handheld problem
Post by: theoclarke on October 19, 2009, 03:46:10 pm
Installed .84 over release version .79 after registration of new license failed.

Sync handheld yielded an Information box reading:
Failed to install package.
More Info: none
URL:

The box appears repeatedly independently of any action by me so it may be coincidental that it first appeared immediately after attempting to sync.

My iPod is listed as iPod (G:).

Try reinstalling.  Try rebooting.

Thank you for the suggestions. Tried reinstalling and then rebooting. Symptoms persist. Should I move this to a separate thread?

I haven't been able to reproduce a handheld problem.

Could you provide a few more details, like the formats of files, type of iPod, etc.?

Thanks.

I think that the problem may have flowed from the original install being on an external hard drive.  I have now deleted the original installation completely (except for my library) and reinstalled from scratch to my C: drive. Everything seems to work OK now although I lost my library and have had to reimport it.  Now that this is working OK I plan to try another install to the external drive but it will have to wait until I get another slug of 'spare' time. :)

The handheld is an iPod 5G Video 60GB. The files are a mix of MP3, WAV, AU and AA.
