Using Windows 7 64-bit, MC 14.0.90 and either Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick or AverTVHD Duet:
I receive a television picture but no sound is played when watching TV with MC. The sound works fine when I use the Aver or Pinnacle television software.
I just performed a clean install of Windows 7 and have not installed any special codecs or changed any audio settings in MC. How do I troubleshoot this problem? What settings must be changed?

In TV options, for the tuner, choose Configure, then Digital... Try a different setting for audio.

For the audio decoder, there are three options:
1. Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder
2. AVerMedia MPEG-2 Multiplexer
3. Automatic
Still no sound, regardless of the one selected.
BTW: I have no problem playing music

Try changing the video decoder, too.

1. Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder
This decoder does not do decoding in MC (and all non-Microsoft applications). You can use this decoder only if your sound is output to an out-board decoder via SPDIF. Otherwise you need to use AC3Filter, or FFDShow audio decoder.

OK. Went back to the Pinnacle Pro Stick. Installed Pinnacle TVCenter Pro (previously I had just installed the driver). This added a variety of Pinnacle codecs and decoders to my system. Once these were installed, MC played the audio with no problem and no special configuration.
In addition, the sound now works on the AVerMedia card. Interesting thing is that I have it set for the same audio and video decoders as I was using before when there wasn't any sound.
BTW - I had to go to the Hauppauge ftp site (not the regular download site) to get the latest version of TVCenter Pro, which is compatible with Windows 7 64-bit machines.
Thanks for the help.
