Title: Another genre question ......
Post by: smanning on November 07, 2009, 06:45:39 pm
I'm new to MC and have downloaded the latest version 14.0.94. I plan on pretty much just using MC for audio. I've been playing around ripping some of my cd's and would like to file certain titles under multiple genres. I've looked about the forum and have tried to follow some suggestions that I've run across, but can't seem to get things to drop into multiple genres. Is there a box  need to select under options, or a command I need to type in when editing the disc before I rip the disk? I figure I missing something simple  ?, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
      Steve

You need to create a new Field to support multiple genres:

Tools > Options > Library & Folders > Manage Library Fields > Add New Field

Call it "Genres", and set it is a List (semicolon delimited)

N.B.: This field will be completely unrelated to "Genre", and you'll need to update any views. Also, most other players won't recognise the 'Genres' field, and will only show what is in 'Genre' - so you may want to occasionally synch them up using

Tools > Library Tools > Move / Copy Fields

multiple genres can also be managed using keywords

and keywords are saved inside most audio file formats

Thanks guys, I will look into what you have suggested later when I get home from work.
