Title: Startup network delay
Post by: benn600 on November 09, 2009, 09:36:04 am
With one of my systems, the network takes several seconds (5 - 10) to connect.  Starting MC at startup just doesn't work because of this.  The errors popup because the library couldn't be loaded.

Do others have this problem?  Any way to fix this?  If MC starts on startup, perhaps MC could wait and retry for up to 15 seconds.

I find the main goal with MC theater view is keeping them rock solid, reliable and completely usable without keyboard/mouse -- even though I do have these accessible, they shouldn't be needed.

Create yourself a script that waits 10 seconds or so and then starts MC itself.

+1. that's how I do it.

My remote software will launch MC with any button push unless MC is running.  So MC needs to actually launch so it won't allow subsequent launching.

Ben,
What is "my remote software"?

Actually, I think MC became more friendly in this respect lately.
I just gave it a try - started MC with my media file server asleep. MC started (in Standard View) with _no_ error messages. Woke up the server. After about 10 sec started MC playback - no problem...
I while ago I would have to restart MC to get it playing.

Keyspan.  It allows just about any imaginable configuration.
