Title: Syntax for custom filename disk-track nameofsong
Post by: jherbert on November 12, 2009, 02:35:31 pm
I have a large collection of mp3s, containing a lot of multi-disk sets. I used mediamonkey before and set the naming convention to disk#-track# title. 3-9 sample.mp3 meaning disk three, song 9 with "sample as title. Last night media center went through some 90000 tracks and removed all references to the disk number in the filename, replacing 3-9 in the sample above with 1-9.

I know there is a way to define custom file names, but I was unable to locate information on the proper wording of tags (is it disk # or disk nr. or someting else). Also I could not locate information on how to start a manual renaming process to reverse the action taken by Media Center 14.

Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

MC wouldn't automatically do that.  Maybe you're looking at the tags, not filenames.

Try right clicking on a few audio files, and look at Library Tools.  You can try Move Copy Rename and the tool called Fill Properties from Filename.

Try a few files before you do very many.

MC has a tag called Disc#, where you can enter the number.
