Title: WASAPI
Post by: Vincent Kars on November 18, 2009, 03:27:36 pm
Using MC 14 on Win7
If I use WASAPI to a Benchmark DAC 1 (24 bit DAC)
- USB needs a 24 bit setting in the DSP
- Toslink needs a 16 bit setting in the DSP

If I use Foobar, both USb and Toslink works using WASAPI in 24 bits
I think MC 14 is not using the full capabilities of Toslink/spdif in this case

If you have a high-end DAC, you may need to adjust some settings:

Thanks for the response Matt.

I have no problems with the settings.
What surprises me (and the people at Benchmark where I posted this settings http://www.benchmarkmedia.com/discuss/forum/dac1-usb/windows-7 ) is that the DAC1 is 24 bits. Setting the USB input to 24 works and this is normal behaviour.
However it won’t work over SPDIF, there you have to set MC 14 to 16 bit instead of the supported 24.

BTW: 24 bits is not a characteristics of high end DAC’s only. Most pro’s record in 24 bits therefore a lot of pro-gear do have a 24 bit DAC

I have no problems with the settings.
Please double check the DAC settings from our Wiki:

I use 24/96 over S/PDIF (tried both Tos. & Coax) all the time with MC14 (with 1616M feeding Nova DAC).
