I have an Archos 5. In MC 13 it was recognized, and I could see everything on it, and transfer to and from it in MC. The device is recognized in MC 14 but clicking on it only brings up a 'working' message. I have tried getting MC to re-detect it. I can transfer files to and from it with any other software I use. This problem has occurred in all versions of MC 14.
Can anyone help?

If it's a big drive, it could take some time the first time MC sees it. Try waiting longer.

I'm currently on forty minutes. Even if it does eventually find all the files, this is too long a time to be useable - particularly as, as I said, everything else finds them within seconds.
ETA: After an hour, it has found the files. Is there any way to speed this up? MediaMonkey takes about two seconds, for example.

Leave it alone for a little while, then try again. It builds a database the first time.
Other factors that might affect it are MC settings for:
Audio analysis
Cover art retrieval
Thumbnailing of images
If it's a USB connection, try another port. USB 1 is much slower than USB 2.
