This might be old news (as I've only just started playing with my Filter config in Win7) but after finding some odd behaviour with the new MS filters I came across some discussions on MS will be gradually replacing the current Direct Show Filter system with "Media Foundations". Any thoughts on how this will impact MC and it it is a good, bad or indifferent thing?
Thanks
Nathan

Our only goal is solutions that work, and it's not too clear to us at this point that Media Foundations offers any tangible improvements. In several years, this may be different. We have played with Media Foundations, and some components like EVR are available in both systems.
My preference would have been further refinement to DirectShow since everyone has mostly gathered around it. I've never understood things like why Microsoft made at least four different renderers. Why not just one working renderer? Now we have two separate, but mostly overlapping, frameworks.
Jim's theory is that Microsoft turns over developers every few years and the new guys want to rewrite and rename things just so it's theirs. Maybe it's that simple.

Thanks, If it ain't broke...... anyway I found this tool from one of the Authors of FFDSHOW that lets you select your preferred filters and disable Media Foundations... http://85.230.118.136/showthread.php?t=146910
