Title: Share MC Library to iTunes (via network)?
Post by: keither on December 09, 2009, 12:39:15 pm
So I did some searching, and I'm trying to figure out if this is possible.

Can I use MC to share my library with iTunes running on my wife's MacBook?  I'd prefer NOT to have copy my entire library to her hard drive just for her to listen to a few albums while I'm not at home.  I know I can share to X-box and other copies of MC, but can I make my MC library appear as a shared iTunes library?

Thanks!

You could sync your MC library with iTunes on the same machine and then share the resulting iTunes library.

Heh... I could, except I don't have iTunes on that machine and would prefer not to add the bloat.

Ah well.

I use Firefly Media Server (http://www.fireflymediaserver.org/) to share my MC library with the iTunes-using schlums at work.  It works well enough, and doesn't have the stupid arbitrary 5-user limit like iTunes.

Glynor FTW.

That's AWESOME.  Thanks, man.
