Title: Gapless playback of iTunes encoded m4a albums
Post by: e-head on December 10, 2009, 04:12:23 pm
I just upgraded to MC14 and I'm trying to get my old iTunes m4a encoded files to play back gaplessly. I remember for MC12 I had to fiddle with some DirectShow settings as described here:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=46667.0

I haven't been able to get anything to work in MC14. Any ideas/help?

Thanks.

I rue the day I encoded my CD's in m4a instead of flac.
;)

p.s. I'm just talking about gapless playback in MC, BTW. I have "play album tracks gaplessly" checked and "ignore leading/trailing silence" checked.

You probably saw this then:

If you use DirectShow, you'll be able to convert to FLAC OR APE and be done with the problem.

One additional thing, the wiki was written for MC12/13.  The discussion about DirectShow filters is still valid, but the place where you actually choose the filters is changed in MC.  Make sure you have a look at Tools > Options > File Types.

Thanks. This pretty much worked. I just couldn't find where to set up the DS filters.
