Title: Can I Specify Playlist Directory in MC14?
Post by: dpippel on December 12, 2009, 10:01:58 am
I've been using MC for years and it seems like a dumb question, I know. But I can't find any reference to it anywhere. Can I specify the directory where MC14 stores playlists?

... the directory where MC14 stores playlists?

A short answer: It doesn't store them in a directory.  :)

A longer answer:

In MC the playlist system is a database feature. Essentially the playlists are like filtered view schemes. They are always synced with the database. For instance, when you delete a file from the library it disappears also from playlists and if you rename a file (inside MC) the playlists will automatically be correct.

However, MC provides good options for exporting playlists as static disk files (File > Export Playlist... and File > Export All Playlists).

Thanks for the reply Alex. I was hoping to simply point my Squeezebox server at a directory so that it could access my MC playlists. That way I wouldn't have to export everything all of the time. I guess that's not happening.

Any chance of adding some sort of "auto export" feature to MC's playlist functionality?

i think
mc14.exe /mcc 20004,1
might work. you could add that for instance to the scheduler from mc to run every day.

Thanks for the tip! I've give it a shot.
