Title: mp2 files seen as data, MC unable to play
Post by: Sauzee on December 25, 2009, 02:54:15 am
Hi

Happy Christmas everyone!

I've got a few mp2 files in my library. In the past MC has imported and played them fine. However I've recently imported a few more into MC using the latest build and it sees them as data and won't play them. I changed the media type to audio in MC but it still won't play them. Any ideas?

Renaming them to MP3 should work.
MC's internal decoder can handle MP2s just fine, but unfortuntely they haven't been properly added to the supported audiofiletypes list.

Thanks Leezer, that worked.

Would be nice if MC supported mp2 playback natively and tagging with mp3 tags.

More info is this thread: MP2 audio (aka MPEG-1 layer II) (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=51840.0)

Thanks, interesting. I've got about 50 mp2 files all recorded from digital radio concert broadcasts where mp2 seems to be the standard.

Doesn't sound like it would take much to make MC recognise them.
