Title: Some Ideas for MC 15
Post by: rhgh on December 27, 2009, 01:22:54 pm
A Topic where you collect ideas from user, devided in music - video - photo. User can vote.

1. The action window should open in a detach window. The tageditor should open in a detach window. DSP is already opening in a detach window. That's good. I also miss a tool, which is called "workspace save" in photoshop. It want to be able to create a workspace settings to save all open windows in one set and for multiple users.
For example: "DSP - Actionwindow - Tageditor" when i start MC, MC is able to load the individual set. That would be great.

2. Save Views with Tabs (when i start MC my 5 Tabs are allways the same) not the last state.

3. Cover art from Internet: (my album name ist [year] - [Album]), MC  can't find any cover. i need an option to change keywords, with MC is searching.

4. The function "rename, move, & copy files". It would be nice wen i can save my "Directories" and "Filename" in a set.

5. The function "move / copy fields" it would be nice wen i can save my "Source"  "Destination" and "Action" in a set.

6. Customize views - Panes and details. i have five tabs, but when i panning the datails in one view the changes are also in the other views on all tabs. It's also in the thumbnails view. It would be nice if we could save it in the customize view as a set.

7. When i have no coverart; a standard cover, that i can modify.

8. When i rip a cd. Finally the question rip cd once again closed itself. And i don't want the report window by secure rip. i disable it in the options but it pops up neverless.

9. More commands to insert in the customize toolbar

Retroperspectivly V.8 - V.14
i know none other programm who can stand comparison with MC.
For wishes; the sky's the limit; and the next release is certain to come.

Your work is great!

RHGH

I wish all in your company a mery christmas and a happy new year.

yes i think 10 is an absolute must.

all views and whatnot should be able to be imported to MC15 from older versions (or at least MC 14). with as many hours as i've spent getting all my views just the way i want, it will be hard to justify upgrading to MC15 unless that is there.

This would make my life a lot easier.

Be able to rip discs to a local drive while using Library Server. I'm listening at work but can't rip my CDs to my portable hard drive.

i think is too early for a MC 15, the changes can be made in MC 14 (and im sure that some of this are already in the making)

When importing a playlist from one PC to another, let the imported PC search
your music files based on the names of the song and artist and fill in
the song's directory names automatically.

How would this work if you have multiple versions of the same song by the same artist?  For example, I have some "Complete Recordings Of..." collections where there are multiple takes of each track.

Here's to version 15 which I am definitely looking forward to.  Any new MC developments are intriguing with many opening new doors and possibilities left and right.

I would also love to have a playlist portability option, which allows you to take the playlist to another machine and look it up in the library.

The solution is that instead of using the name of the track/artist, one can base it on some hash values of the files. I once wrote a perl script to do so, but having the functionality built into the player would be really cool.

In regards to my questions about reading a playlist from one PC to another, it should read your file where your music directory is kept and if it finds more than one, let it ask which one you want.
