Title: What is the capacity of the media library
Post by: coderider on December 30, 2009, 03:25:06 pm
When importing media, Media Center is reporting x of 10000.  I have more than 10000 media items in the folders that I am importing.  I am considering a purchase, but am concerned that there may be a limit.

Thanks

It just does 10,000 at a time for performance reasons.  Many hardcore users of MC have libraries in the high 100,000s of items.  There is no artificial limit placed on the size of the database (or at least not one that is even remotely realistic to hit).

If you scan a folder (either manually or via auto-import) that has more than 10,000 new items, it will just automatically import them in sets of 10,000.  You can safely ignore this other than to understand that the import progress dialog will only show "sets" of 10,000.

Thanks, that's just what I needed to know.  This looks like a really great product.
