Title: Problem with CDDB
Post by: ribby on July 03, 2002, 08:08:59 am
I just downloaded and installed trial version of MJB 8.0. Was able to get CDDB to recognize the first CD I played through it. Now I can't get it to recognize any other CD, i.e. I insert a music CD into the machine and up pops my previous CD's tracks. I have activated CDDB and my previous version of MJB worked just fine, I'd see a box pop-up indicating it was fetching info from CDDB. Now nothing. There's something in the on-line manual about hitting an 'update CDDB' button. I don't see this anywhere.

Is there a problem with this release or what am I missing?

Thanks

I Just Tested The Latest Version 8.0.317.

It Works For Me.

When You Put A CD In Click On CD, DVD, & HandHelds

It Should Get The Info Then.

And yet it doesn't for me.

Program posts the first CD I ever put in under this program and won't update. When I right click on the album and go to CDDB update, the entire program hangs. I have to kill it out of Windows. When I bring it up again, I can right click on CDDB Info and the program consults the server and brings back the proper information. But CDDB Update still hangs.

I installed the 318 and had the same problem. Another thread indicates they know they have a problem.

I'll await the next version. Meanwhile my 30 days is running out......

Thanks for your efforts, folks!

Robotonic,
We believe the problem is fixed in 8.0.318.  Exactly what do you see?

I believe I downloaded the .318 version and put it on top of whatever version you had been advertising, which was a .2 something. I noticed no change. I borrowed a CD which was a 'Various Artist' CD and CDDB did make changes the way it should do all the time. Then I borrowed another Various Artist CD and CDDB wouldn't come up at all. I did a power-down reboot and still couldn't get it to work. I tried to do an Uninstall and the program started running then went into a not-responding mode with the graybar at about 70%. I've not had any success uninstalling any further and have abandoned having anything to do with the program for the time being but I'll probably just kill off the J River folder unless you have any better ideas or instructions.

This probably meand I'll not get to try the full program because since I started up MJ8 the clock is running, and by the time you get a working download on the site my option for trying it out will be reduced.

Thanks for hearing me out.

Go To Help, About And Check The Version Of MJ You Have Installed.

King, please re-read my previous email all the way through. I KNOW what version I was using, it was the latest. I already have tried to uninstall, and it crashed while doing so. I therefore at the present point in time have garbage for MJ8 software and I'm not going to do anything other than try to get it off my system and await a time when a more recent version is available. I don't know how much clearer i can be. I've tried to be as helpful as I can be and that has cost me TIME.

Thanks for trying.

Robo,
Take a deep breath, go to bed, start over tomorrow.  I'm closing this thread.
