Title: Audio pops when using wavelength DAC
Post by: reedk on January 13, 2010, 02:25:44 pm
I get a loud popping noise maybe once a second when playing back music after sleeping the PC.  Asus motherboard, 32bit vista, wavelength USB dac, play files from memory on, playback buffer size 3 seconds, jriver 13.  Does not happen if I never sleep the PC but instead turn it off and on.   Depending on the buffer size it starts happening after a few sleeps of the PC.  If it starts happening and I increase the buffer size, stop the music, and start the music again, then the popping stops until I sleep the machine a few more times and then it it starts popping during playback again.  If the buffer size is small (say the default buffer size) it happens after one or two sleeps.  Any suggestions?

Please take a look at our wiki (link above) and the article on "DAC settings".  You may need MC14.

Thanks.  That worked.  Or at least I've put it into sleep mode several times without popping come back.  I think I was using direct when I should have been using WASAPI.
