Title: How to find out what playlists a song is in?
Post by: jroyale on January 22, 2010, 09:06:35 am
Is there a way to scroll through your audioi songs and find out what playlists if any they are in?  Say a another column you could add to the view or a properties or tags setting?

Click tag in the action window (bottom left), last tag line is always playlists which will tell you what playlists a song is in. Also you can add the playlists field to a column.

... Also you can add the playlists field to a column.

I can view the Playlist tag via the Action Window but am unable to add a Playlist column to a view. When I go to find it in the drop down list I see all of the other tags not Playlist.

Am I going about it in the wrong way?

I also would like to see playlist in a column, but I cannot figure it out.

I was wrong, the Playlists field that I have is a custom field I made

How did you create that column?

Because it was a custom field it will not work the way you want it to. I think I made it to help me make smartlists. I deleted it since I used another field to help make my smartlists.

But to make a custom field

Tools > Options > Library & Folders > Manage Library fields > Add New Field

Thanks...once I opened it up I was lost.  I have no idea how to create one with playlists entries.

I can walk you through making a custom field called playlists or any other custom field but it won't act the way you want it to (display the same info as the playlists in the action window).

Using custom fields and expressions is a great way to customize MC. It takes time but well worth it.

I am aware thanks...I wanted to be able to quickly scan multiple files in standard view to see what playlists they were in.

22 when you say it won't act as you want it to what way will it act?  I'm looking to essentially duplicated the playlists entry in the tag window.  Maybe give me a little insight into how it will act and I'll let you know if it's worth doing a blow by blow.

Thanks.
