MC 14.0.130
Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
MP3 playback works fine. Had a recent hard drive crash, so the system is a pretty fresh install. But now I can't get any audio on DVD playback. I get DVD audio with Windows Media Player, but I'd rather use MC.
When I try to start a DVD, I get this message:
The current audio decoder will not work unless you have a digital connection.
I click the Configure button, but then what?
The Audio Decoders drop-down has:
Microsoft MPEG-1/DD Audio Decoder
Automatic
The Audio Renerer drop-down has:
Default DirectSound Device
Digital Output Device (SPDIF)
Speakers (High Definition Audio Device)
I have not found any combination that works.

The Microsoft MPEG-1/DD Audio Decoder, also known as Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder on Windows 7, can not decode AC3 audio outside of a Microsoft application. It can be used only if your sound is output to a digital receiver capable of decoding AC3. In such a set up you use SPDIF passthrough setting to get the audio decoded by your receiver. If you do have such a receiver, you should just change the "Audio Connection" value from "Analog Connection" to "Digital Connection to a surround sound receiver (supports AC3 and DTS)". If you do not have a digital receiver, i.e. you only have speakers connected to your PC, then you have to choose a different audio decoder. Since you do not have anything else but Microsoft's, you have to install one.
CCCP is a good choice. Have a look at this wiki article (http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/DirectShow_Playback_Guide) where you can find a link to CCCP download.
