Title: Alfonsonso N -- movie critic
Post by: JimH on July 01, 2002, 04:09:31 pm
Alfonsonso,
I got a copy of Salsa.  I watched.  It was as you said.  Great music!  And Felipe Luciano was amazingly articulate and insightful.

Thanks for a whiff of the 70's (again).

Looking for Ruben Blades now.

Jim

Hey Jim,

Is this a different Salsa movie?.. The one I remember from the 70's (and I've had the tape for awhile) is a concert movie in Yankee Stadium with the Fania All Stars with guests Manu Dibango, Jorge Santana and for the most part was a history of the evolution of Salsa with Geraldo Rivera as the narrator.

ha!  Yes.  It's still music, all Latin.  Tito Puente is shown playing in his neighborhood on an outdoor basketball court.  Celia Cruz.  Others I've forgotten now.

I don't know if you were addressing the question to me but this is the movie I'm talking about:
