I choose the optical (SPDIF) out on the iMac (Win7)

The Benchmark is a 24 bit DAC so the Bitdepth should be 24.

Played a song and got an error
(http://thewelltemperedcomputer.com/Pictures/Software/MediaPlayers/MC14/MC_error.GIF)
Changed the bitdepth to 16 and the song plays fine.
This is strange as the Benchmark is a 24 bit DAC
Did the same in Foobar
(http://thewelltemperedcomputer.com/Pictures/Software/MediaPlayers/MC14/Foobar.GIF)
Using the SPDIF and 24 bit the song plays fine.
Using the USB input on the Benchmark

The setting must be 24 as expected to play the song.
It looks like there is a problem with MC 14 over the SPDIF when using a 24 bit DAC

In your first screenshot, try the third option "present 24 bit data in a ...".
See the article on "DAC Settings" in our wiki.

Checking the 24-32 did it.
I suggest to include the correct settings for the Benchmark in the Wiki
Thanks for your prompt and adequate reply.
