@ JimH
While MC is still my favorite application to manage my media and a Ipod Touch is still on the wish list .... I looked for some ways to enable you to support Ipods native (yes, I know about the sync tool MC<>iTunes). Maybe I preach to the choir, but do you know about this software?
http://www.getsharepod.com/fordevelopers/ --> it's an open .NET 2.0 class for accessing the Ipods (even the touch)
Not free (19,99$) is copytrans (http://www.copytrans.net/copytrans.php).
I would spend this amount additional to the ability to sync to a Ipod Touch.
It seems silly not to have iphone/itouch support with this.... Did anyone look into this. The post had no reply.

When Apple introduced the iPhone and Touch, they introduced a defensive scheme to prevent our access, but we did considerable work to support the new devices. In the next generation, they changed their defensive scheme. At that point, I decided we would not waste our time on them. If we did the work again, they would probably change their software and lock us out.
If you want third party support, please tell Apple.

I do understand it's Apple's fault, but it seems a shame when most of the hard work has been done for you.

Why does Media monkey support Ipod touch but not J.rivers?
In JRiver features it say:Support all Ipods.
-
Because we could do a lot of work and Apple could lock us out again with their next firmware release. Tell Apple what you want.

If you want iPod Touch/iPhone support, look here for the best current solution - http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=51734.0
JRiver has made a business decision that the amount of effort required to support the newer devices is not worth the cost. While I don't completely agree with them (they could use the iTunes API's like the solution linked above does), it is not an arbitrary decision by them.
