Title: Severe overload/distorted sound with DSP studio in use
Post by: Pjotr on March 25, 2010, 05:14:21 pm
With the latest builds of MC14 and MC15 also, I get severe overloads when I try to use the DSP engine. Usually I let MC do the re-sampling to 48 KHz for my desktop PC with a Soundblaster Live audio card in it and set the DSP effects to studio/subtle. This worked flawless in the past. Now I get peak levels over 200% and very distorted sound with DSP studio in use. Something broken in the latest builds?

We're not aware of an issue here.

But turn off all DSPs.  Then turn them on one-by-one until you find the cause.

Let us know what you learn.  Thanks.

Have done so. It happens with material that is near to 100% modulated (most isn’t). Have looked at the files and they are actually max 97% modulated in the peaks.  For 96/24 material I need the resampler because my soundcard in my desktop PC isn’t capable of that.

Are you saying it only happens on 24-bit files or only on resampled files?

Please play something with no DSP, including Output Format and see if you still have a problem.

Try other output types or soundcards.  Try different types of files.
