Title: Theater View in 14 vs 12

Old user of MC 12 here, considering using it again for a new setup and upgrading to MC 14.  I'd be using it primarily as an HTPC interface on a 42" hi-def plasma.  

Have there been any significant improvements made to Theater View - menu flexibility, layout looks and animations, etc?

Your list is pretty close.  There are a lot of changes.  Using the trial would show them.

Theater View menus are now customizable.  You can add or remove items.  You can jump to another program and hide MC if you need to.

Remote control is also a lot better.  Check the Wiki (click on add above).
