Title: How to generate list of artists/albums

What's the best way to generate a list of all your artists and albums? It would be nice if I could organize the list by genre, or by year, etc.

I've tried exporting an XML file, but that hasn't been very useful. I even tried opening the XML file with Office apps that can usually deal with this type of file (like Excel), but it doesn't work. Maybe my library is just too big.

BTW, you'd think the answer to this question would be easy to find by just searching the forums, but the search feature here really doesn't help.

have you tried, detailed view ? there you can group by "artist - album" and then copy to excel

it's under  panes-->view as...

it's a superduperview  :)
