Title: Can't start WASAPI playback in MC15
Post by: MR on April 20, 2010, 10:38:26 am
Can use WASAPI with MC14; (for my DAC, had to check "Present 24-bit data in a 32-bit package". Without this option, I got stutter-static.

Installed MC15; kernel streaming works, but I can't figure out how to get WASAPI to work. Get "Playback could not be started on the output "Windows Audio Session API (WASAPI) using format 44100 Hz, 16 Bits Per Sample, 2 channels."

Output format is set for  source # channels, Source Bitdepth, No resampling.  These are the same settings I use for MC14. Tried changing bit-depths and resampling, to no avail; tried checking and un-checking the 24-bit in 32-bit package.

Audio card is Lynx AES16e, Play 01+02; Windows 7.

Maybe MC14 is set to "exclusive" for WASAPI?

I did the following:

1) backup MC14 and MC15 "J River" directories
2) de-install MC14 (delete all); de-install MC15 (delete all)
3) delete "J River" directory under AppData/Roaming
4) install MC15
5) copy MC14 directories into MC15
6) configure audio for WASAPI

. . . and it works; despite the delete of all registry entries, came up licensed w/o license re-install.

That's the long way around, and not recommended.  For transfer of libraries from MC14, just backup in MC14 and restore in MC15.

You could probably have unchecked exclusive in MC14.
