I performed a backup of my MJ7 library which created 6 files:
browser.jmd; categories.jmd; mediafiles.jmd; playlists.jmd; registry.jmd; and smartlists.jmd
I then uninstalled MJ7 and installed MJ8. When I try to restore the library to the default MJ8 library I get a dialog that pops up requesting me to select a .ZIP file as my backup library to restore. What gives? Why isn't it looking for the 6 files saved by MJ7?
Thanks

ZIP those 6 files and then do the restore from that file.
Hopefully that isn't too much of a pain -- we changed the backup to use ZIP compression to simplify things a bit.
Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply but when I zip those 6 files and try to restore I get a "failed to restore info" message.

Hey there.
Sorry about that... let's try plan B.
1) make a backup of your current library so if we goof something up, you're not out anything
2) erase all the .jmd files in Media Jukebox's data directory (normally C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\Data)
3) copy your old, backed-up .jmd files into the data directory
4) start MJ, and hopefully it'll upgrade your library and you'll be in business
Let us know.

Thanks Matt, that did the trick.
Why didn't I think of that!
