Title: Media Jukebox 14.0.164 vs 14.0.156 - no ASIO output now ??
Post by: frorqf13 on May 01, 2010, 04:09:06 pm
I was using MJ 14.0.156 with ASIO4ALL driver and ASIO output settings on XP Pro SP3. Sound was perfect for me and I was very happy with the sound cleaner and brighter vs the sound got from MJ12 + ASIO4ALL. I use a Prodigy HD2 Gold with std Via driver. I only listen FLAC files.

After the timeout date of yesterday, I have installed the new release 14.0.164 today May, 1st on same directory (superceding). And I am very surprised that ASIO output option in Audio settings has been wipped off. Why ??

I tried to uninstall / install Via driver, ASIO4ALL driver : still same effect : no ASIO output option
I install MJ14.0.164 on a brand new computer (XP Pro SP3) and same issue : no ASIO ouput option

Why this regression ?? It is a pity because one of the main advantage of MJ was ASIO native output option.
Thanks for your comments

Some higher end audiophile features are not available in MJ.  They are in MC.

IMPORTANT: The feature set of the early builds of Media Jukebox 14 may change.

Audiophile level features will only be available in JRiver Media Center (http://www.jrmediacenter.com).

You can get $10 off (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=57458.0) if you purchase MC15 during May.

Jim-
I understand the logic of having desirable features in the for-fee MC only, but many of us audiophiles don't need or want all of the non-audio features of MC.
How about a middle road of a for-fee "Audiophile" version of MJ (which could be cheaper than the full blown MC), with all of the audiophile features of MC?

It's not a bad idea, but we have a long list of to-do items.

In MC, you can simpllify the view if you want to.  Please see the attached image.
